Vegan Caesar Salad Dressing

, , , ,

Caesar salad is a crowd favorite for a reason. Rich, creamy, garlicky, and packed with savory flavor, it has a way of making even the simplest bowl of greens taste amazing. Traditional Caesar dressing relies on ingredients like Parmesan cheese, eggs, and anchovies, but this vegan tahini Caesar dressing delivers all of that flavor without any dairy or eggs.

The richness of the tahini makes this dressing creamy without using eggs. Combined with miso paste, capers, nutritional yeast, fresh garlic, and a squeeze of lemon, it creates a dressing that tastes surprisingly close to the classic version while being completely plant-based.

Not only is this recipe a fantastic vegan tahini Caesar dressing, but it's also naturally a gluten free salad dressing when made with gluten-free miso. The simple tahini Caesar ingredients come together in just one bowl and take less than five minutes to prepare, making it perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or last-minute salads.

Use this tahini dressing to make a delicious tahini Caesar salad, drizzle it over roasted vegetables, spoon it onto grain bowls, or serve it as a dip for fresh veggies. Whether you're looking for an egg free Caesar dressing, a dairy free Caesar alternative, or simply a new way to enjoy tahini, this recipe is one you'll find yourself making on repeat.

Tahini Caesar Ingredients You'll Need

  • Tahini- A good quality tahini is vital for this. Your tahini should be runny and smooth. The best tahini is a middle eastern brand you can find this in the world food section of big supermarkets or and a middle eastern grocery shop.
  • Nutritional yeast- Nutritional yeast is a substitute for the parmesan usually found in traditional Caesar. You could substitute this for vegan parmesan if you like.
  • Garlic- Raw is best but you can use granules.
  • Lemon juice- Bottled or fresh are both fine.
  • Capers- Capers add to the savoury, briney flavour and are a great substitute for anchovies usually found in non vegan Caesar.
  • Miso paste- Miso gives a deep umami flavour to the dressing. You can use white or red or substitute 1:1 for soy sauce instead.
  • Maple syrup- Tahini can be bitter so maple syrup is a great way to balance that out. You could also use agave instead.
  • Dijon mustard- Dijon or wholegrain are both fine.

Building the perfect Caesar salad

Obviously the best use for this dressing is a Caesar salad. Make a base of romaine lettuce, add a protein such as vegan chicken or roasted chickpeas then drizzle the tahini dressing, toss well and top with croutons and some vegan parmesan- chefs kiss!
