Garlic Broccolini

, ,

I would say this garlic and black pepper broccolini is the best broccolini recipe. This is a veggie side dish I make every single week without fail, sometimes even twice a week. I am now at the point where I eat so much broccolini Iโ€™ve decided to try growing it in my garden.

This recipe is great because the broccoli cooks in around 5 minutes making it super easy for anyone to cook. The flavour combination is salty from the soy sauce with an aromatic element from the cracked black pepper and a punchy finish from the garlic. Its so good I could just sit and eat 5 bunches by itself!

So if youโ€™re looking for a way to get excited by vegetables I urge you to give this recipe a go.

Why you will love this Asian broccoli recipe-

EASY- Broccolini doesnโ€™t need chopping. The best way to cook broccolini is to simply stir fry it whole, mix up the sauce and add it in and youโ€™re done.

QUICK- You can make this dish in just 5 minutes as the broccolini is a quick cook vegetable. Perfect when youโ€™re short on time but need nutrients.

HEALTHY- Broccolini is super healthy, a good source of vitamins and minerals, fibre and antioxidants.

5 INGREDIENT- This recipe has just 5 ingredients, most of which you are likely to already have in your pantry.

Soy sauce garlic broccolini side dish ingredients and substitutes-

  • Broccolini- Broccolini is a milder, sweeter version of broccoli with long edible stems. This recipe will work with any green veg but cooking times will vary.
  • Cracked black pepper- Black pepper brings an aromatic element to this dish, you can use white pepper for a milder flavour or omit.
  • Minced garlic- I use minced garlic in a jar for this as its convenient for a quick version and its less pungent than raw garlic. If you use raw garlic add it in after 2 minutes to make sure its cooked through stopping it from overpowering the food. You can use garlic powder if thatโ€™s all you have on hand.
  • Dark soy sauce- Dark soy is stronger and more concentrated than light, this will give a bit of colour to the dish and a rich flavour.
  • Light soy sauce- Light soy sauce will thin out the sauce without watering it down too much.
  • Water- Adding water will help the broccolini to steam completing the cooking process.
