Crispy air fryer gnocchi with basil mayo dip

, , ,

Gnocchi can often be served over boiled which makes it super slimy and dense which isn’t too nice to taste.

However if you air fry gnocchi it you can use it in sauces to give a better bite and nicer texture or serve alone as a crunchy snack. You have to try to air fried gnocchi!

Making air fried gnocchi really is so easy. I simply buy store bought gnocchi, toss in oil and seasonings and air fry to crispy golden perfection.

These delicious little bites are served with a basil mayonnaise that is the perfect dipping sauce for the crunchy treats. Feel free to use your own favourite dipping sauce.

I used Italian seasoning on this gnocchi to keep it Italian themed. However depending on your sauce of choice you can put whatever seasoning you like. I think a good one would be paprika to make a sort of smokey, bacon like gnocchi. I’d love to see what you come up with so tag me in your recreations!

So grab yourself a pack of gnocchi and get them in the air fryer for your new favorite snack!

How to cook gnocchi in the air fryer

Cooking gnocchi in the air fryer is so simple. Just use shop bought gnocchi, spray in a little oil and seasonings and air fry until crispy!

There are so many seasonings and sauces you can use to customize the flavor.

How to serve gnocchi

I love serving this gnocchi alongside a dipping sauce as a crunch snack but you can also toss it in a tomato pasta sauce or a creamy sauce and serve with a protein of choice for a full meal.

Crispy air fried gnocchi ingredients and substitutes-

  • Gnocchi- I used ordinary store bought gnocchi for this recipe. There is no need to boil before air frying which makes this super easy to make. If you’re feeling fancy you could make your own gnocchi or try it with different types of gnocchi. I find that a few shop bought packs have milk powder in with it so make sure to check the packet before buying.
  • Olive oil- I used olive oil to coat the gnocchi pieces however you can use any oil you like.
  • Mixed herbs- As the gnocchi is served with a basil mayo I used seasoning to stick with the Italian theme in the form of generic ‘mixed herbs’ also known as Italian seasoning.
  • Vegan mayonnaise- I use Hellmans (the best) vegan mayo to make flavoured mayonnaise however you can make homemade mayonnaise for this.
  • Other mayonnaise ingredients- These are to make a pesto based mayonnaise however you can just mix shop bought pesto with mayonnaise for an easier alternative.

Q&A-

Q- Can you bake gnocchi?

A-Yes, follow the same steps but add to a baking tray and bake on 200C for 10-15 minutes making sure to check and turn the pieces often to ensure an even cook.

Q- Can you reheat gnocchi?

A-These are best eaten fresh as they go hard when reheated so enjoy these straight away.
